Privacy Policy

Effective September 14, 2026 · BrainBerry is made by SwiftForge Studios.

The short version BrainBerry stores your account, the photos of notes you choose to upload, and your quiz history so it can quiz you on your own material. Photos and answers are sent to an AI provider to generate and grade questions. We don't run ads, we don't sell or share your data, and you can delete everything by asking.

What we collect

DataWhy
Name, email address, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash)To create your account and sign you in.
Photos of notes, textbook pages, or slides you upload, plus a text transcript of eachTo generate quiz questions grounded in your own material and to show you which page each question came from.
Class names, quiz questions, your answers, grades, and feedbackTo run quizzes, bring back questions you missed, and show your streak, accuracy, and coverage.
Your device's time zoneTo count study days correctly for your streak.

That's all. BrainBerry has no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not read your contacts, location, or anything else on your phone. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to snap or select a page of notes.

How the AI is involved

To turn a page into questions and to grade written answers, BrainBerry sends the photo, its transcript, the question, and your answer to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI models, through their commercial API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. Nothing is sent to any other AI service.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on servers we operate in the United States, and is transmitted only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and are never stored in readable form. Sign-in sessions use tokens that can be revoked; changing your password signs out every other device.

Who can see it

Only you, through your account. We don't sell personal data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't give other users access to your notes or history. The people who run BrainBerry can access the database for support and to fix problems, and will only do so for that purpose. We would disclose data if legally required to.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Uploaded photos are kept so the app can show you the page a question came from. If a photo fails to process, it is kept so you can retry it.

Deleting your data

Email us from the address on your account and ask for deletion. We will delete your account, photos, questions, and history within 30 days and confirm by reply. There is no penalty and no questions asked.

Children

BrainBerry is built for college and high-school students and is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
